What is planned: From Theatre Square to the city centre, international light artists will illuminate buildings and areas in the city in the style of a festival of light using luminous projections and 3D video mapping. In keeping with the motto of the Capital of Culture, the aim is to visualise unseen ideas, make the overlooked visible and draw attention to the seemingly forgotten. Surprising images of a Chemnitz as it could be in the future will be shown, awakening a longing for more - for more colour and courage to design in public spaces, for more vision in urban design and more will to transform.
The spectrum of the city of Chemnitz is wide. Where the city's turbulent history is omnipresent in many corners, its current zeitgeist can always be felt at the same time. Eastern modernism alternates with art nouveau, classical art is just as naturally present here as a subculture scene.
