It's getting cultural: over 25 concerts in Central Germany invite you to a musical festival in a class of its own.
The MDR Music Summer is a unique ARD-wide music festival that has been held every year in the summer months throughout central Germany since 1992. As an area festival, MDR brings concerts to various regions in its broadcasting area. The MDR Music Summer offers a broad spectrum that includes classical concerts as well as concerts by singer-songwriters, world music, crossover and jazz.
From August 8 to September 7, 2025, the MDR Music Summer presents 25 atmospheric concerts throughout Central Germany. These include the cultural capital of Chemnitz, the idyllic birthplace of Thomas Müntzer, Stolberg, Seggerde and Wartburg Castle.
The 34th edition of the summer festival will focus in particular on the three ensembles MDR Symphony Orchestra, MDR Radio Choir and MDR Children's Choir, which will showcase their versatility in large and chamber music ensembles. Stars such as Corinna Harfouch, Kit Armstrong and Marc-André Hamelin can also be seen on some of the region's most beautiful stages. In Saxony, you can enjoy events at these locations:
