Strehla, Auritz, Nadelwitz - Bautzen's beautiful northeast - route 5

Přehledně

  • Start: Bautzen old town
  • Cíl: Postplatz
  • těžké
  • 14,43 km
  • 3 hod. 30 min.
  • 109 m
  • 221 m
  • 168 m

On the route, you pass by quite a few (architectural) monuments, plenty of nature, an observatory, a path with glacial erratics, brush past the prehistoric significant Schafberg and visit the diver's cemetery on the way back.

The route leaves Bautzen heading towards the nature park, a small natural idyll near the nearby observatory. Passing it, keeping left after the path with impressive glacial erratics, you go to Auritz. Passing the "Russian column," later in the village the Auritzer Weg turns left. Crossing the B6, you soon reach Bautzen's district Nadelwitz. On the Schafberg, located half-right, begins towards Litten one of the largest Neolithic burial grounds in Europe; more details can be found at the Bautzen museum. It is possible to make a detour up the Schafberg, where in 1813 Napoleon supposedly sat on a drum watching the "Battle of Bautzen." Turn left on Niederkainaer Straße and after about 300 m left again, then back to Nadelwitz. At the street junction, take the "Schafbergstraße" right. Coming out on Löbauer Straße, turn right again towards Bautzen's old town. A detour to walk through the impressive diver's cemetery with Grufthausstraße and many impressive tombstones from Baroque to Art Nouveau is worthwhile.
