Route with scenic views. Good fitness is required for beginners!
This route leads through scenic areas past highlights of the Vogtland. The former seat of the Reussen in Greiz still offers the charm of the principality with the city's castles and parks. The impressive Göltzsch Valley Bridge is considered the symbol of the Vogtland. The Pöhl reservoir is also well known and popular in Saxony as a recreation area.

The route starts in Greiz at the train station with a view of the Upper Castle of the Reussen. It leads over side roads and smaller places, such as Weidig, to the Göltzsch Valley Bridge. Afterwards, we continue via Netzschkau in the direction of Pöhl. We reach it via Kleingera, Coschütz, Wipplas, Losa, Bachhäuser, and Ruppertsgrün. The stage destination at Pöhl is the campsite Am Gunzenberg. Service facilities are available here if needed. The next stage leads back over the dam in the direction of Neudörfel. Via Helmsgrün, Gansgrün, Thossfell, and Gospersgrün, we reach Treuen and then, via Buch, also Lengenfeld. The return journey to Greiz is via side roads. For this, we drive from Lengenfeld in the direction of Wolfspfütz, Weißensand, Jägerhaus, Mühlwand, and Mylau. After Mylau, we pass the Göltzsch Valley Bridge again and return to Greiz on the same route. In Greiz itself, you can take a short route along the Elster to then arrive back at the starting point, the Greiz train station.
The road bike route was tested with road cyclists. However, personal performance capability must absolutely be taken into account and self-critically assessed by the road cyclist.

Greiz is located on federal highways B 92 and B 94. From the A 9 motorway coming from Erfurt/Leipzig, take the Lederhose exit and drive to Weida on the B 175, then continue on the B 92 to Greiz. From Gera, you drive directly to Greiz via the B 92. From the A 72 motorway coming from Hof or Chemnitz, take the Reichenbach exit and drive on the B 94 to Greiz, or take the Treuen exit and continue on the S 298 towards Elsterberg, and from Sachswitz continue on the B 92 to Greiz.
Public parking is available near the Greiz train station as well as on the Elster riverbank.
You can reach Greiz via the Elstertalbahn Gera-Greiz-Plauen, which is operated by Vogtlandbahn, as well as by the Regional Express of Deutsche Bahn from the direction of Erfurt.
