The starting point of this tour is the car park on the Planetenwanderweg (Planet Trail) on the S229 between Ehrenfriedersdorf and Drebach (N 50.662888, E 12.985329). Keep following the Planetenwanderweg across Thumer Strasse, passing a few of the planets of the solar system, until you come to Plattenstrasse. Continue through the forest and between the fields along Plattenstrasse, making your way to the Grosser Teich pond. At the crossroads, turn right towards Drebach. Straight ahead is where you join (via Venusberg) the Wilischradweg cycle path (N 50.689886, E 13.009242). Staying on the asphalted path, you reach Drebach. Follow Teichweg and the signs to the main road (Hauptstrasse). There, turn left and then immediately right again. Then turn left onto Weidaer Weg. The signs will lead you along a gravel track to Wolkensteiner Strasse and to the Holzstrasse hikers’ car park (N 50.674673, E 13.037903). Follow the Zschopautal Cycle Path signs towards Greifensteine/Ehrenfriedersdorf. The asphalted Lindenweg offers lovely panoramic views, and leads you to Seifenthalstrasse. Then it’s right again and back on the Planetenwanderweg. Following this, you will arrive back at your starting point.
For a longer tour, you can continue along Seifenthalstrasse towards Ehrenfriedersdorf and follow the signs to the Zinngrube Ehrenfriedersdorf (visitors’ tin mine). From the Sauberg, a beautiful view opens out before you. You can also head underground to explore the history of tin mining in the Ore Mountains.
