Hiking route near Lauterbach with a detour to the Kalkwerk Lengefeld Museum.
Start: Lauterbach fortified church – follow E3 towards Lauterbach town center – continue on E3 towards Niederdorf – Aschhüttenweg – Lauterbachweg – Ölmühle – follow the yellow-marked path – Zöppelsteig – follow the green-marked path over Ulmknochen – S225 – parking lot at Kalkwerk (refreshment point) – follow the long-distance trail Görlitz-Greiz – Lauterbacher Knochen – Oberdorf – finish: Lauterbach fortified church

From the starting point we hike to the town center and at the junction near the primary school follow the E3 sign downhill. In Unterdorf we leave the E3 path and follow the yellow marking. To reach the Ölmühle area, at the next junction we turn sharply left. From here we hike uphill, to the ridge and follow the yellow marking to the next large crossing. There we leave the yellow marking and continue to Kalkwerk (green marking).
After visiting Kalkwerk, we return on the road and keep slightly right towards the hiking parking lot. From here, we follow the hiking trail to the "Old Quarry viewpoint" and continue hiking over Lauterbacher Knochen back to Lauterbach and downhill to the starting point (yellow marking).
A visit to the Kalkwerk Museum is worthwhile.
