When Europe's largest art and sculpture trail "PURPLE PATH" opens from 11 to 13 April 2025, you can travel through 38 municipalities in the cultural region of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz. The quirky works of art by regional, national and international artists tell a common story: "Everything comes from the mountain" - from the exploitation of mineral resources, from development to craftsmanship, from craftsmanship to technology to large-scale industries.
Although "path" literally means "way", the PURPLE PATH art and sculpture trail is not a "path" in the literal sense. The PURPLE PATH weaves a symbolic network that connects the municipalities of the cultural region, which together with Chemnitz hold the title of European Capital of Culture 2025. The works of art and the stories of the people and makers are the connecting element. The PURPLE PATH invites you to set off and visit the participating locations in the cultural region, the landscapes, castles, palaces and churches, the museums and workshops of the many craftspeople.
