Whether it's jazz, blues, medieval sounds or classical concerts - the BurgenLandKlänge series of events features impressive music at fascinating venues all year round. The BurgenLandKlänge brand unites almost 20 important and culturally historic venues in the entire Leipzig region. These range from imposing castles and magnificent palaces to lovingly restored manor houses and ancient ruins to sprawling parks and a revitalised cultural railway station.
This year, too, the BurgenLandKlänge can be heard from May onwards. In addition to other music and cultural institutions, the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra and MISKUS, the association for the promotion of the Central Saxon Summer of Culture, will take part in the series of events. With the summer open-air concerts under the title "Klangjuwelen im Schlösserglanz" (Sound Jewels in the Glamour of Castles), the Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra will also make Saxony's castles and palaces shine in new splendour.
Special venues include Colditz Castle, the Kriebstein lake stage, the baroque Delitzsch Castle, Hubertusburg Castle or the Trebsen manor, where the popular blues nights with regional and international musicians take place on the last Friday of every month. For friends of Scottish culture there is a special highlight at the manor: the international Highland Games from 15 to 17 September.
The Biedermeier beach also offers a unique ambience. It is located directly on Lake Schladitz, which was created from a former open-cast mine. On the Hayna shore, numerous dance and theatre performances, orchestra and band concerts as well as festivals lasting several days take place on a lake stage, especially in the summer months.
If you would like to experience a concert in a railway station that is still active but was empty until recently, you should visit the Kulturbahnhof Leisnig. Cultural events, concerts and music and dance workshops take place there.
