The pulse of the town festival beats on the market. Here you will find the Sparkasse stage, the "House Made" stage and a roller coaster. There is a bouncy castle behind the town hall. The children's disco invites you to dance. There are games and entertainment for the little ones. Animals can be petted at the animal shelter's stand. On Friday, a lantern parade will set the mood for the city festival weekend. In the evening, DJs take over the stage. The street becomes a dance floor.
The craftsmen's mile awaits visitors in Lorenzstraße. Regional businesses will be presenting themselves here. A medieval market will follow in the direction of Kreuzstraße. It will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am. Jugglers, knights and margraves will give an insight into life in the old days. The Hohnstädter Straße becomes a mile of clubs and societies. A number of tradesmen will set up their stalls in Lange Straße and offer various activities. In Brückenstraße, the aroma and pleasure mile, there will be lots of culinary specialities. There will also be a show chef and a magician. On Leipziger Platz, musicians will be playing folk rock, blues and country music.
The shops in the old town will be inviting visitors to stroll around all weekend with numerous activities. The shop doors will also be open on Sunday from 1 to 6 pm. The Sparkasse Museum opens on 24 September (1 to 5 p.m.). The GDR Toy Museum will also offer insights during the town festival on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am. The district museum opens Friday to Sunday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
For a more contemplative experience, take a boat to Höfgen. In the "Village of the Senses", the crafts market takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
