Challenging mountain route with impressive nature and fantastic views
Due to its natural conditions with a wide valley basin surrounded by high forested mountains, Erlbach is an excellent hiking area at an altitude between 520 and 804 meters above sea level. Attractive viewpoints and rustic rest areas await hikers everywhere as they discover the well-marked hiking trails.
The king of the area is the Erlbach Mountain Route! It is a real mountain route with challenging inclines and long, lonely forest path sections. It winds its way often steeply uphill for 22 km, leading for hours on paths through dense border forests. Often just a footpath, it follows the border from Hohen Stein over Kegelberg and further past Schwarzbach spring to the Drei Rain stones. After passing the raft ponds, it continues over the Bergsandner viewpoint to Gopplasgrün and from there via the Sporn execution site and the Spornreuth viewpoint back towards Erlbach Market Square.
