In centuries-old tradition, Christ Child comes to the sound of Saint Peter and Paul's Church bells, the singing of the Kurrende choir at the time-honoured staircase of the guildhall and festive wind music, in order to open the Görlitz Christmas Market together with the Lord Mayor. Between magnificent trading houses from Renaissance and Baroque, accompanied by scents of spices, almonds and incense, almost 100 merchants and artisans offer their goods. Wonderful old Christmas music from Silesia and Bohemia sounds on the market. Görlitz choirs and wind ensembles contribute to the festive atmosphere and invite you to join the singing.
